Neptuno
& Axxcelera celebrate Caribbean wireless milestone: Islands probe no obstacle as
region leapfrogs wired telecommunication into a wireless world.
3000 units of Axxcelera
wireless AB-Access Product Line Installed by Neptuno Networks.
San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Santa Barbara,
California, July 14,
2004 In a prime example of entrepreneurial providers acting locally to overcome
geographic and national barriers to connect globally, Neptuno Networks has passed a
critical size benchmark that enables delivery of cost-effective, high-speed network
services to a formerly unwired region that rival those available anywhere in
the world. Axxcelera Broadband Wireless, a Moseley Wireless Solutions Group Company and
recognized global leader providing broadband wireless communications products and
technologies, announced today that Neptuno Networks, Inc., a service provider and a
broadband integration services company, has installed its 3000th unit of Axxceleras
AB-Access product into Neptunos own network and the networks of major carriers
in the Caribbean. The largest installations are in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and
Antigua. Other key locations are Anguilla, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, Monserrat, St.
Lucia, and St. Marteen.
The
3000-unit deployment gives Neptuno Networks a multinational wireless provisioning presence
that rivals any global wireless deployment. Neptuno Networks reach is equivalent to
between 30,000 and 110,000 square kilometers, given the AB-Access units
aggregate coverage areas, the size of several U.S. states. The size of our AB-Access
deployment and our corporate commitment to custom service solutions give Neptuno
Networks customers the ability to innovate within the Caribbean economy while
benefiting from full access to the global economy, said Pedro Andres, president and
CEO of Neptuno Networks, Inc. Thanks to the versatility of Axxcelera technology,
Neptuno can add value in any scenario presented by our end-use customer base that includes
leading Internet service providers, CLECs, and traditional major telecommunications
carriers. We see the Caribbean market as driving discovery of new benefits from this
technology, not just matching the global economys technology applications. Neptuno plans to extend its deployment of Axxcelera
units to all islands in the Caribbean, merge new voice and video technologies with the
existing networks to leverage the units capabilities, and start positioning the
networks for the new generation of WiMAX radios that will be coming soon. It is key
to our long-term strategy that Axxcelera is a principal member of the group setting WiMAX
industry standards, noted Pedro Andres.
Neptuno Networks services range from
high-speed point-to-multipoint wireless broadband links of over 11 km to cellular
infrastructure carrier point-to-point T1/E1 solutions. Neptunos customers range from
small and mid-size companies to government agencies, educational institutions, major
banks, insurance companies, health institutions, VARs, and telecommunication carriers, all
using capabilities of Axxcelera products to deploy effective networking solutions.
"It's
rewarding to be part of this historic provisioning of high-speed information access an
entire region and to be associated with and outstanding partner such as Neptuno
Networks," said Jerry Kollmann, Axxcelera's senior vice president of Worldwide Sales,
